*Excited Wheezing!*: What’s On Deck For The Crown

Hello Patrons! 🙂

As I said yesterday, this is part two of my gush fest of The Crown. This is talking about what comes next for the show; the new cast (the show has regularly switched out it’s cast to show the passage of time), what the show’s plot will cover, what will be left out, and other stuff. My research is pretty recent, as of November 2020, so this is bound to change.

Basic Information:

Season 5 of The Crown starts filming in June 2021, and will come out on Netflix in November or December of 2022. This isn’t because of the pandemic, this break was scheduled, (the show took a break between seasons 2 and 3). Season 6 will come out in 2023.

The Plot of Seasons 5 & 6

Seasons 5 & 6 will be the final seasons. Season 5 will go into the 1990’s, and cover Charles and Diana’s divorce, as well as Princess Anne’s divorce, and her brother Andrew’s divorce. Whether or not they will show Diana’s death is up in the air. (I hope not! I am queasy with that kind of thing). Season 5 could also cover Princess Margaret’s death. Season 6 will go into the early 2000’s. (It will not cover recent events, such as Megan and Harry giving up their titles or Kate and William getting married). We will apparently see a Teen and Tween (former) Prince Harry and Prince William.

New Castings:

Imelda Staunton is taking over from Oliva Coleman as a slightly older Queen Elizabeth. Staunton has been in shows such as Downtown Abbey, Harry Potter, and Shakespeare in Love.

Lesley Manville will play an older Princess Margret in season 5 (and some of season 6). She is continuing the role that was played previously by Helena Bonham Carter and Vanessa Kirby. Manville was in The Phantom Thread.

Johnathan Pryce is taking on the role of Prince Phillip from his predecessor Tobias Menzies. Pryce has been in Tomorrow Never Dies, The Wife, Game of Thrones, and The Two Popes.

Elizabeth Debicki will be playing a slightly older Diana. (Sadly we have to say goodbye to Emma Corrin!) Debicki has starred in The Great Gatsby and The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2.

Dominic West is in talks to play Prince Charles. (This could change!) West has starred in The Affair and The Wire.

Gillian Anderson will be back as (former) Prime Minister Margret Thatcher! Anderson garnered fame in The X Files.

We still do not know who will play Camilla Parker Bowles, the Queen Mother, Prince Andrew, or his wife Sarah Ferguson. (Check on The Crown‘s IMDB page for further news.)

In Conclusion:

This is the perfect time to start watching The Crown y’all. Season 4 just came out, and each season has 10 episodes that are each about an hour long. It’ll take a couple of months to be up to date with the whole series. (Possible 2021 goal? I am hoping to re-watch the seasons that are currently out next year). I can’t wait for season 5!

Reading Update:

I finished Super Fake Love Song by David Yoon last night. I was sadly disappointed. If you want to know my thoughts check out my Goodreads review. I have decided that I don’t care enough to review it here. I don’t feel passionately enough to talk about it more than I already have. I gave it a 3/5 stars. Sadly it just wasn’t as good as Frankly in Love.

I am at the 15 hour mark of A Promised Land. It’s still very good. I am also still reading Dearly. (I still don’t feel dumb so that’s a win!).

I started reading Here the Whole Time by Victor Martins. I am loving it so far. The novel was translated from Portuguese, but it doesn’t scream TRANSLATED WORK! which I like. I will talk about my thoughts more tomorrow.

(Tomorrow I am going to talk about my December TBR, which includes Here The Whole Time, and a couple other books I am excited about).

Tell me what your reading or listening to in the comments below. Take care of yourselves, wash your hands, wear a mask in public, practice self care, and…

Stay Golden! 🙂
